Bangladesh cricket drop six, freeze pay after poor year

DHAKA: Bangladesh hacked out six players from national contracts following a time of poor exhibitions with players who got away from the cleave being denied a compensation rise, an authority said Thursday.

Opening batsmen Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes were among the six to pass up a major opportunity for an agreement as Bangladesh cricket cautioned players to take care of business, selector Habibul Bashar said.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board late Wednesday chose to hold only 10 players on contract, with three others to be included at a later time.

"For contracts, we generally favored players who might perform routinely finished the following one year," Bashar told AFP.

"A few players have lost their standard spot in the group. They should have been communicated something specific. Getting dropped does not mean the entryway is shut for them. Everybody will get a reasonable possibility in future."

Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi were the four others whose agreements were not recharged. Sabbir was at that point barred from an agreement on disciplinary grounds.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mominul Haque, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan were the 10 players granted contracts.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan told columnists that contracted players would not be given a compensation rise this year.

The best compensated players - Shakib, Mushfiqur and Mortaza - are paid 420,000 taka ($5,121) every month from the board.

The board additionally said it would audit contracts for around 80 five star players.

Bangladesh lost Test arrangement against New Zealand, India and South Africa in 2017, and just figured out how to rub a draw against Sri Lanka and Australia.
